Craig Milligan

I am the lead road safety engineer and CEO at MicroTraffic. MicroTraffic turns any traffic camera into an AI-powered diagnostic sensor so that we can create intersection safety plans based on near-miss measurements.

Our technology is used by 64 communities to drive road safety investment decisions. I lead a fantastic 27-person team in Winnipeg, Canada comprised of road safety engineers, computer vision engineers, developers, and data scientists.

About me:

-Expert road safety engineer applying a proactive and safe systems approach to vision zero.
-Immediate past chair of TAC Road Safety Standing Committee, Board Director at IRF, Past Board Director at CARSP, and Member of ITE and TRB.
-Completed road safety design audits for more than $8B of urban and rural road projects at all stages.
-Road Safety Audit Instructor.
-Completed in-service road safety audits of 300 intersections and 4000 km of highway in six countries.
-Specialized in diagnostics, countermeasure selection, HSM predictive methods, and video conflict analysis.
-Completed updates of 10 road safety technical guidelines.
-Developed safety performance functions and/or network screening tools for 4 agencies.
-Authored over 30 road safety publications in top journals and conference proceedings.
-Ph.D. in civil engineering focused on road safety
-Previous road safety engineering roles at World Bank, Gov't of Manitoba, and Fireseeds North (my consulting practice)
